Introduction The success of a hockey team, whether it is measured in individual skill improvement, winning, or fun, is directly dependent on practice. The better the practice, the better the team. What goes into a practice, how a practice is conducted and what is accomplished during a practice is critical. In this sense, the drills that a practice is comprised of are essential to the development of the team. This book presents 200 drills in eight different chapters: skating, stickhandling, passing, shooting, conditioning, goaltending, checking and situations. The book presents a comprehensive selection of drills for the different stages of development. The book is meant to serve all coaches, either as a readily available on-ice drill reminder, or as reference for new and different drills. Each drill features: a full-color diagram, a purpose, a brief description, the number of participating players and the tempo of the drill's execution. All of this information is clearly displayed for quick reference. Many of the drills have variations listed as well. No drill is too simple to be used. Drills are where the fundamental skills of the game are taught. All teams should constantly practice fundamentals and as a team develops its skills, the drills provided can be made more complex. My nephew recently got into hockey and wanted to learn how to play. I knew the game and rules but didn't know how to help him develop as a player. I got this book and so far I've teaching him conditioning and some team building exercises that has developed his overall game. This book is a coach's guidebook because he is learning both offensive and defensive strategies and executing them well. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to either coach or just learn the game in general.

The book I bought was suppose to be new. It was actually a withdrawn library book. Strange.

Hockey Drill Book. The title says it all. The book is laid out very well. It opens with warm up and skating drills. Then the book moves to stick handling to passing to shooting. It continues with conditioning, goaltending, checking, situations and finishes with practice.The nice part about the book is that each drill has an illustration with a description of how to perform it. Each drill also contains an explanation of the purpose, tempo and who can participate. Another nice feature is the variations section, which offers an idea of a different approach to the drill.This is a great book for beginning coaches as well as more seasoned coaches looking for something different. This book will help your confidence as a coach and help your team move to the next level.

So disappointed in this book. I love Creative Haven coloring books and was really looking forward to getting this book because I love the Fall season. I even pre-ordered it and figured it would be worth the wait. The lines were too thick for my comfort. The pictures of it looked nice but when I got it, I was really disappointed. I won't return it because it's not worth the return postage, but I will make note not to order from this artist again. I may give it to the Library in our Community Senior Center.

 This is the fourth book in a series of seasonal coloring books by Teresa Goodridge. For me, each of the books has been even better than the one before. As autumn is my favorite time of year (with changing colors of leaves, the last of vegetables being harvested and the holidays approaching.) While the colored samples are still pictures of the original watercolor artwork rather than colored samples of the actual designs in the book, I don't have the issues with tiny details that I had in the first book in the series. I'm able to use all types of coloring medium with this book, which makes it a real pleasure to color in.The designs are exactly what I would hope for in book about autumn. I really like that as I have had problems finding a good autumn coloring book up till now. The designs have lots of trees for coloring the change of leaf colors, pumpkins and other harvest items, Thanksgiving, Halloween and even a football scene. The designs are quite detailed and some few do contain intricate and small areas to color. There are less of the intricate portions in this book than in the prior ones.I noticed that the feel of the paper is slightly smoother than some of the Creative Haven books I have received recently. I've noticed that the paper seems to change quite frequently on these books. Because of that, if you buy one of these books, it may be slightly smooth or slightly rough depending on when and where it was printed. Colored pencils still work well with the slightly smoother paper (see below.)This is what I experienced while coloring in this book and testing the paper with my coloring medium.31 Autumn inspired Designs by Teresa GoodridgeThe designs are printed one side of the pagePaper is the usual Creative Haven quality: white, medium weight, slightly smooth and has perforated pages.Glue Binding but with perforated pages so removing a page is fairly simple.The designs stop well before the perforations. Most, but not all, of the designs have a framing line at the outer edges. Some simply stop with no line and I wish that they had put the framing line around those as well.Alcohol-based markers bleed through this paperWater-based markers bleed through in spots and show colorful shadows on the back of the pageGel pens and India ink pens leave shadows of color on the back of the page. India ink pens can bleed through when I apply more than one layer of ink.Coloring pencils work well with this paper. I was able to get good pigment (color) lay down, layer the same color and multiple colors and to blend easily using a pencil style blender. I tested both oil and wax-based pencils with similar results. Hard lead pencils, like Verithins, leave dents on the back of the page.I suggest either removing pages from the book to color or using a blotter page under your working page. I like card stock as it keeps ink from seeping through and damaging the pages below.

If you love scenery pictures to color, this book is for you. There are approximately 31 pages. Each picture is single sided. The paper is pretty thick but if you use markers you will still need to put a folder or blotch sheet between pages. I had this book preordered and couldn't wait to get it. Received the book today and had to color a page. I use markers. I feel the artist did a good job with the picture designs in this book.

I couldn't wait for this book to come out . I ordered it the day it did . The pictures are amazing art work and every book she makes is just as great as the last . I have every book she makes and each other has very awesome art work . I love scenery and season coloring . Autumn is my favorite time of the year so I was super stoked when I found out about this one. Over 30 pages to color . Highly recommend it to anyone and once again the author did an amazing job on this book!

I wanted something to get me in the Autumn mood and this book is perfect. Beautiful pictures to color! I love Creative Haven books and this one is one of my favorites.

I received this book about two weeks ago and absolutely love it. The artwork is by Teresa Goodrige and the images are delightful. There are a lot of typical Autumn type scenes with the beautiful falling leaves and countryside and a number of Halloween and Thanksgiving pictures featuring pumpkins and the bounty of nature.The pictures are printed on only one side of a page and each page is perforated. The paper is rather thin though although it has a good tooth. I highly recommend this title in the range if you enjoy colouring scenery.

What a special coloring book! The pictures are very well put together and fun to color. Lots of farm scenes with produce. The theme runs to Thanksgiving and the fall. There is a scarecrow that I did in a plaid shirt with denim jeans, buildings, wreaths and more. There is also a football plate. I use Pan Pastels for the large areas such as gardens and fields. This product makes great looking gardens and pastures. This book is designed for experienced colorists. Perforated pages and the paper is real nice The wait on this book was worth it!!! I am very happyPS One year later this continues to be my favorite Autumn coloring book. I continue to do Pan Pastels. This is the BEST coloring book!!! I love to take the time just to look at and enjoy the pages I have colored. I have just about colored this book up. I am going to order at least one more book, and try different methods other than the ones I have already used.Good job Creative Haven and Teresa Goodridge. I love that you produce such a variet of books.

These books are fantastic. I love the outdoor autumn scenes in this book with pumpkins, scarecrows, apple orchards and so much more. All of the pages are perforated for ease and convenience of coloring and single sided. Paper is a nice quality but recommend backers for wet mediums. Fabulous!!

I have to say, I was rather surprised when I received this book and opened it. Not only was the artwork lovely, but the paper quality was equally as nice. It's what I would call a medium weight paper and easy to work on. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that might be on the fence about the purchase. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

The eBook and the version of the paperback showing the two eyes in a frame are not the Kaufmann translation. This translation is OK, but you should know that the product information is incorrect.Additionally, the two versions I refer to use ALL CAPS instead of italics. Nietzsche loves his italics, especially in BGE. It's like he's screaming every other sentence.

This ebook is illegible. Someone just did an OCR scan of an existing translation, without fixing any of the problems. About once a sentence, two or more words are crammed together likethis.

This is the third book I've read of Nietzsche's. The first was a collection from various writings, and the second was "The Anti-Christ." Beyond Good and Evil was Nietzsche's attempt to summarize his entire philosophy into one book. I don't know if I'd ever call anything Nietzsche wrote a summary, but this book does lay out his principles in black-and-white, and it did help me put some of the pieces together.Below are a few of my takeaways. It's not a summary, because I don't even know if that's possible. So I just wanted to share a few things I've picked up on.On the will to power:If modern (nineteenth century) man is no longer going to believe in God, or at least if they're going to tone down His influence a bit, the next logical step for them was the concept of free will. In a post-enlightenment world, people were trying to understand if there really is a God pulling our strings like puppets. If they weren't going to believe that, the next logical step was free will. Nietzsche rejects free will and instead believes in the will to power. Essentially the will to power is his phrase that means people should aim to take power over themselves and create a "superman" or "overman" out of themselves. Nietzsche sees this as an alternative to the concept of free will.On religion -Another thing that I noticed about Nietzsche after reading a fair bit of his work is that, as critical as he is of Christianity, he seems to have a bit of an affinity for Buddhism, or at least the principles of Buddhism. Buddhism's primary concept is "life is suffering," right? Nietzsche writes extensively about suffering as well, arguing in part that the cause of all great human advancement is suffering. In the Anti-Christ, he often points out that Buddhism is better than Christianity. To be fair, there was a pretty short list of things that weren't better than Christianity, according to Nietzsche.I love the short epigrams and how Nietzsche is capable of concentrating so much meaning into such few words-"Blessed be the forgetful: for they forget their stupidities, too.""Whoever reaches his ideal transcends 'eo ipso.'""'Where the tree of knowledge stands, there is always Paradise': thus speak the oldest and the youngest serpents."*eo ipso = thereby

Great translation by Judith Norman! I much prefer it to the standard Walter Kaufmann translation.

Terrible print job, Create Space. Margins are microscopic, spacing is awful, text is crammed in so tightly I need reading glasses. Buy any other copy.Good words, bad publisher.

The written material in this book is acceptable but the book itself, that being the page is not upon opening the book I discovered this. The first three pages had the top right-hand corner are bent to an angle as to where they are not attached to the binding and thus make an indent into the cover of the book which ruins the pristine and beautiful image on the cover with a bulge that is clearly visible. I request a refund or at the very least new copy of this book that is free of misprints.

This is a place where normal rules don’t apply really.Things to Expect in KA-Land❣ - Ex’s are 5 shades of cray-cray and I mean CrAzY❣ - The Hot guy will say something life shattering sweet one minute and then act like he is from another time the next and you’ll want to first kiss him and then kick him in the balls. That feeling goes a little back and forth but most of the stuff that is memorable is sweet.***“Two kinds of women get under your skin. The ones who do damage, they don't feel good there but once you're stupid enough to let them in you got no choice but to take the time it takes to work them out. Then there are the ones who don't do damage, who feel good there, feed the muscle, the bone, the soul, not rip it or break it or burn it. The ones you don't wanna work out.”***❣ - The underappreciated girl with a past will resist the initial allure of said hot guy because she has something tragic in her past or is slightly broken. But at least she is not 20 something….One of the best things about KAs MCs is that most of the time they are in their 30s and 40s.***“All my life, or as long as I can remember, I thought something special was going to happen to me. I just had this feeling, deep in my bones. I didn’t know what it was but it was going to be beautiful, spectacular, huge.” I leaned in further. “All… my… life.” I shook my head again and put my hand on the bar. “It didn’t. I waited and it didn’t happen. I waited more and it didn’t happen. I waited more and it still didn’t happen. I tried to make it happen and it still didn’t happen. Now I know it isn’t going to. It’s never going to happen because there isn’t anything special out there to happen.”***❣ - The KA heroine will freak out at some point and time and ramble on in a cute or over informative way.❣ - There will be sex…lots of hot sex…even some in the shower and that is when I know this isn’t real life. Because have you ever tried to have sex in the shower…it is slippery and I think you are more likely to get a concussion than anything else.❣ - At some point there will be some crass talk…I personally look forward to this. It is usually dirty and mostly thrown in the face of someone who has wronged the MC so I totally look forward to the verbal smack down. There were a few of them in Sweet Dreams and they were all awesome.❣ - You can usually count on a kidnapping, girl fight, alpha dominance fight or a tasering. If you are lucky you get a combo of them.Sweet Dreams worked for me for a few reasons. I liked Laurie most of the time. She had a bad marriage and is a bit gun shy but she stands up for herself doesn’t let anyone walk all over her and is good to her friends. There is also Tate who made me happy just a little more than he made me angry but overall he just did it for me. It was probably all the crass talking.The murder mystery while interesting totally plays second fiddle to the love story. This IS love story first and foremost with a mystery. Still I always love learning about the pasts of the characters to see why they are both a little broken and each one helps to fix the other. Tate’s history was just as tragic as Laurie’s was but in a different way.KA did fortunately reign in all of the descriptions in this one. There are still a lot and I always know what a character is wearing, or the general vibe of a room but she didn’t go nearly as overboard as she did in The Gamble.The side characters and the small town always add a lot to the story and this is no exception. I love that I feel like these are real places and you could go and visit Carnal and have a drink at Bubba’s and run in to Jim-Billy there and maybe watch Twyla throw down some attitude at bad tipping customers.All and all this is one of my favorite KA books to date.

Is it the best book I've read? No. But it never fails in making me feel good -- and that's why we read books, right?! Kristen Ashley is always my go-to when I'm in need for some good closure and a HEA. This book is not the best ending she's written, but it still gives me that smile on my face when I get to the end. AND...I just love Tate so darn much! I am incredibly happy to report that he is everything I love in KA heroes even after a re-read! I was truly worried he wouldn't hold up...especially after being so disappointed in myself after re-reading Motorcycle Man and Tack not being the man I had in my head the second go-round. It's no secret that I am not a huge fan of suspense in romance, but this book has just the right balance between romance/suspense/other stuff to keep me interested and eating up the super long book in no time!**See Goodreads.com/NMmomof4 for my full review with spoilers**Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Lauren and Tate's story. Lauren is on the road trying to find herself a new home after a devistating divorce, and she lands herself in a small town in the Colorado mountains. She meets Tate, who is a part owner of the bar, and they bump heads right away. When a serial killed hits too close to home, things between them change drastically. There is a good bit of ex drama (on both ends), some big secrets revealed, some friend and family drama, some sexy times, AND a serial killer on the loose...but they do eventually get a HEA ending.POV: This was told primarily in Lauren's POV with a few sections in other character's POV.Overall Pace of Story: Good. This is another long one! On Amazon it is listed at 678 pages. I never have issues getting through it though, because SO many things happen! I never skimmed, and it flows well throughout.Instalove: No, they take a while to develop stronger feelings.H rating: 4.75 😜 stars. Tate. My #1 all time favorite KA hero. That's not so say he doesn't get OTT in his alpha jerkish ways at times, but I just can't help falling for him every time I read this.h rating: 4 stars. Lauren. I like her. Yes -- she is a little clueless at times, but I loved how she took care of her boys.Sadness level: Low/moderate. I teared up a few times, but never needed any tissues. SWEET DREAMS is book two in the Colorado Mountain Series and is (kind of) an enemies to lovers contemporary standalone with just a hint of suspense. If I was forced at gunpoint to name my top three Kristen Ashley favorites, I'd name this one as number two...number one...number three...well let's just say this book is one of my favorites!! I've read this beloved tale at least four times, possibly more. Right off the bat, I'll say I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Lauren's character. She found the strength to transform herself (and not just physically) from a timid, insecure woman to a strong, confident Goddess. It was like watching a plain boring caterpillar break free from her cocoon to become this beautiful majestic butterfly! It's a journey I never get tired of reading. Then of course there's Tate, Lauren's bad boy alpha boss who also moonlights as a bounty hunter. There's just something about a possessive, take charge kind of man with a silver tongue that makes my heart pound! Plus, the sparks that ignite when these two come together is HAWT! Next is the crazy cast of secondary characters, each one who, by the time Ms. Ashley's done, has me feeling like they're my best friends. Throw in a plot with a few suspenseful elements and surprises and you have the perfect contemporary romance! Told from Lauren's POV with a happy ever after.

It's filled with paintings and the reference photographs from the Norman Rockwell Museum.Apparently, Rockwell used live models for all of his work. Every model will be meticulously costumed and posed until he could get his perfect composition. Preparing the shot almost seems like an art form itself as he tirelessly puts in all the details required, sometimes to the extend of staging elaborate settings, like deciding the items to display on the table behind models. Every painting is well conceived and composed in his mind even before he lays paint on canvas. If you've read any biography of him, you won't be surprised by his dedication.Included in this book is a great selection of his paintings and the photos he used, put side by side for comparison. The author Ron Schick has done a great job providing commentary to all the illustrations, through interviews with people who have worked with Rockwell. There's plenty of insight and a few lessons to be learned on posing models. There have been many books on Norman Rockwell over the years, but Norman Rockwell: Behind the Camera is the first to shed light upon the reference photographs from which he often painted. Published in 2009 this book features a selection of images from among some 18,000 black and white negatives that are held by the Norman Rockwell Museum at Stockbridge, Massachusetts.Admirers of Rockwell's art should consider this book unmissable, given the fresh ground that it covers. It will also have some appeal to illustrators and portraitists, because of the description and examples provided on Rockwell's working methods.Why did someone with such a sharp drawing and drafting ability take such heavy recourse to use of photography? It should be understood that Norman Rockwell laboured under huge pressure to produce paintings at a rapid rate to meet deadlines of magazine editors and to satisfy other lucrative commercial commissions for his art. To spare time from doing dozens of preparatory drawings for each painting, Rockwell eventually began instead to use photographs and select among them before choosing a final composition. The photos did not displace the need for models, costumes, props or any of the rigour of painting preparation, like sketches and colour studies. But these snapshots did ensure great efficiencies: they saved re-sittings by models, avoided movements of sunlight; and made possible a far more phenomenal output in one man's career than otherwise could have been conceivable.Author Ron Schick, an expert in photographic art, explains the considerable efforts that went into composing the photos and what Rockwell was aiming to conjure up. It is a tale of an artist scouting locations, assembling props, and amusingly positioning and directing the models like actors in a play. This book shows some of the tricks used by Rockwell for getting the best out of life models, including using stacks of books to support the feet of figures as they feigning leaps, running, or other exertions "in motion". We also see how folding screens in varying shades were used to help the artist accurately capture the tones and outline of a model, without distraction from background clutter.The book is well designed. The author and publishers juxtapose paintings opposite source photographs, sometimes showing how several separately photographed models might be assembled on canvas into one composition. It becomes apparent how the artist selectively modified and spliced poses, or added or varied details in clothing and props, to drive the narrative power of his final paintings.The visual extravaganza in this book is well supported by pithy and pertinent stories about the featured artworks, spiced up with quotes from Rockwell, his models and other associates (Rockwell was a little abashed at his use of photography, but he has written several accounts of his working methods for the benefit of fellow illustrators who have sought to learn his secrets). Schick threads the book together with writing of his own that is informative and perceptive. The book is a good length at over 200 pages, but Rockwell was such a prolific artist that it is hard not to wish for even more of his paintings in this enjoyable monograph. I've been a fan of Norman Rockwell's art for many years and collected quite a few books about him and his work. I knew Rockwell took advantage of photographs to prepare his paintings and illustrations, but not to the extent presented in this book. It's a fascinating look behind the scenes at Rockwell's creative process and efforts to be authentic. It's a welcome addition to my library.

It would be hard to find a better candidate for an American Sherlock Holmes than Rockwell, or more Holmesian painter, character wise at least.

He thoroughly researched his paintings, created many preliminary drawings and paintings, before the final painting was completed. Tom Schimmer is an author and a speaker with expertise in assessment, grading, leadership, and behavioral support. Tom is a former district-level leader, school administrator, and teacher. As a district-level leader, he was a member of the senior management team responsible for overseeing the efforts to support and build the instructional and assessment capacities of teachers and administrators. Tom is a sought-after speaker who presents internationally for schools and districts. He has worked extensively throughout North America, as well as in Vietnam, Myanmar, China, Thailand, Japan, India, Qatar, Spain, and the United Arab Emirates. He earned a teaching degree from Boise State University and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of British Columbia. Garnet Hillman is an educator, coach, writer, presenter, and learner. She was a Spanish teacher at Lockport Township High School and currently serves as an instructional coach at Caruso Middle School, both in Illinois. She consults around the country on the topics of assessment, grading, and student motivation. A passionate educator, Garnet values student learning above all else. Garnet has published writing within Assessment 3.0 by Mark Barnes and What Connected Educators Do Differently by Todd Whitaker, Jeffrey Zoul, and Jimmy Casas. The success and excitement spread to be a schoolwide initiative the following year, eventually leading to the elimination of letter grades three years later. Mandy works with a wide variety of teachers, undergraduate students, and school districts to improve assessment and grading practices to maximize communication and student success. She provides rationale for the need for change in our current grading practices, as well as practical steps for implementation. Mandy recently received the "Heart of Illinois One Teacher at a Time" award because of her work in the classroom. A must own for any grading for learning reformist, and/or stakeholder in education!

SUCH a great read! As an educator, I've been looking for a "how to" book that is doable. This is it!

I appreciated that the authors provided the rational for standards based learning and provided practical tips for how to get there. This book doesn't feel preachy, but instead provides options for teachers in the classroom. Wherever you might be on your teaching and assessment journey, there is something in this book for you.

The book is outstanding. We moved to standards-based grading this year so this book is assisting us in our continuous learning process. The first chapter, Standards Based learning in action, is outstanding. I love the section on creating a standards-based classroom: communicating the standards and learning targets, explaining why they are important, and involving students in the learning process. At our school, we wanted to align our instruction, assessment, and grading. This book shows you the way! The next few chapters break down high-leverage strategies like formative assessment, feedback, and self-assessment. The author discusses the research behind each strategy, details each action step, and gives steps to get started. Chapter 8 is about redos, retakes, and reassessment. The gives steps and suggestions for talking to parents, getting started, and questions for learning teams. I love Chapter 9 on Proficiency Scales and rubrics in action. I highly recommend this book.

Great book! I appreciate that it was written from teachers to teachers with tons of examples that I could use immediately. This is a must read for all educators.

A well written insightful story that reveals a great deal about the human psyche and how we cope with "belonging". Clearly told, with great reflection, regarding the author's discovery that his dad wasn't his biological father. Quite moving. The story deals with the struggle the author had following the surprise revelation following a DNA test, and how he goes about learning about his newly discovered bio father, all while attempting to be considerate of his 95 year old mother's feelings. A wonderful "human" story. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I read about this book before it came out. I was excited to read it. I read it straight through at one sitting. As an adoptee who reunited on my maternal side 33 years ago and still seeking my paternal side, I was constantly frustrated with the author. I understand he was stunned, disappointed, grieving and considerate of other peoples feelings. However, I found it exasperating that he didn't actually look at the genetic information right in front on him. He gave a distant cousin a flippant response instead of realizing that a real live person can provide so much more information than geneology records, pictures and locations of relatives. He imagines what a Father's day would be like if he actually got to spend it with his biofather. However, he has an opportunity to communicate, make a connection and possibly a relationship with his siblings and other paternal relatives but he cops out instead. It seemed like a codependent response and doesn't even give anyone else the opportunity to make a choice for themself. Furthermore he is concerned about his Mother's feelings and reputation but writes this book which reveals her "secret" to the world! He never even asks her if it was an ongoing relationship or affair or even if it was consensual! Sorry Mr. Griffeth, you are just at the tip of the iceberg imho of knowing where you came from and who you are! Do more than use your imagination! Take a leap of faith and find out what your paternal family is really all about! Furthermore, you mention how much you enjoy your relationship with your cousin, Doug, who was relinquished and reunited! You are NOT even giving anyone in your paternal family the opportunity to have this with you!

I started reading this wonderful memoir and had to put my life on hold until I reached the end. As an avid genealogist myself I love the way the various strands of the family story are woven together. I wept with empathy and laughed at the twists and turns. Highly recommended!

I felt the turmoil and pain, the love and compassion, and ultimately, the acceptance that while one truly never knows what curve balls life will casually toss your way.... that there are treasures to be found, if you choose to look. I was extremely moved by your journey, Bill. You've done your family...all of them...proud.

As a genealogist I found this book fascinating .Good for him to pursue the question. As a nurse I helped with the conception of many children through the use of donor sperm. I wonder how many of their parents fear that DNA will unveil their family secret if they made it so.Thanks to Ancestry an 87 year old cousin who recently found out her aunt was really her mother found me, and was able to fill in family history on the father she never knew..

Well written and engaging tale that was unnecessarily lengthened to fill the pages of a book. I was compelled to buy this book after reading a teaser article in the magazine "American Ancestors". Actually, the whole story could have been told in a few more pages in the same article and it would have probably been better. Although I am an avid genealogist I found myself skipping through the unrelated chapters on his Griffeth family history because I just wanted to get to the rest of the story. This book is NOT a waste of time. It is a riveting story, well told ... but in too many words over too many pages.Despite this... it is a very quick read and I would recommend it to anyone who is genealogically inclined.
