In this newer version cloud, big data, mobile BI are the newer topics while agile continues to be a hot topic. Cindi has updated the survey results in this book as well. Other topics covered include open-source BI and databases, something I had not considered. She has updated the agile portion of the book to include scrum methods and sprints and how they work.What is especially interesting is all the customer case stories, crossing industries and BI vendors. They include Netflix, Medtronic, FlightStats, the Dow Chemical Company, Macy's and more. Each company is trying to solve a different problem with Business Intelligence. Medtronic is an SAP customer, while Macy's is using a combination of SAP BusinessObjects and Tableau.She goes into depth discussing the business-IT partnership of BI, and the personality types associated with each. It was interesting to me to see the Meyers-Briggs personality test covered, as introverts are generally with IT while those in the business are extraverts.What is in it for you as a customer or partner reading this book? To me it would be to benchmark your company/customer to the survey results/companies in the book. It is good to take a step back and look at the industry outlook and see what other vendors are doing with BI, Big Data, Cloud and more. How do you measure success in business intelligence? Really well written for a reader who needs to know and be aware of the breadth and logic of the technical aspects associated BI but does not need deep technical details. Just the right balance.The only reason for 4 for 5 stars is that some information is a bit dated (2014), but most content foundational and is just as relevant as when it was written.

Cindi is a master in helping the reader and implementer understand where to find and recognize value in deploying Business Intelligence. She is not theoretical, but a pragmatist who cites example after example and has hands-on experience. So many authors talk about the subject and quote others, but Cindi's knowledge is experiential and based on exposure to products and use cases. She steps you through the choices and helps you understand how to measure value. She speaks to both the business users and the technocrats with a language and examples that we all can understand. A refreshing read and not a re-hash of older tomes on a similar topic.

The negative reviews of this book on here are disingenuous, unintelligent, and shrill.But they are typical. The Church and its members don't want to own up to how dangerous it is adhering to the strictest tenets of Christian Science. Of course, anyone who believes that diabetes, a broken bone, a terminal illness, or any other life-threatening illnesses can be done away with by wishing and praying need a serious reality check.My paternal grandmother was a Christian Science practitioner. She told me I could give a "demonstration" by curing myself of my congenital hearing defect.These are the issues behind the religion, its founder, and the Church, that Caroline Fraser has so scrupulously, relentlessly researched - and is the basis for this spellbinding book.Fraser's level of scholarship, reasoning, analysis, presentation, and cogent, stylish writing is, in a word, extraordinary.Her work here, without (naturally) the "cooperation" of the Church, is of an unbelievable breadth, reporting, and super-completeness. Every possible angle is investigated, elaborated upon, and made manifestly clear.You can almost discern Fraser's incredulous tone in places where the ignorance and shocking indifference directed toward those in need of medical care which results in horrific tragedy; not just dying, but of needless suffering due to withholding of medications. It is difficult to read some of the sheer stupidity of the actions of some of the "followers," and their heinous complacency and indifference to obviously ill and suffering people; your heart breaks for the many children in these pages who didn't have to die.Then there is the matter of money, and "mishandled" funds. Lawsuits. Infighting in the Church. All of it, appalling.The Church did in fact have a chance to redeem itself. The most revealing factor in this examination, of great interest, is that one of the Church's teachers, Arthur Corey, had the potential to modernize the extremist, fear-propagating tenets of Christian Science, but - no surprise - he was vilified and stymied by the powers that be running the institution.As Fraser writes: "But Corey also had an unerring sense of where the Christian Science movement had gone wrong. He identified the Church's gradual insistence after (Mary Baker) Eddy's death on "radical reliance" as a bad political mistake, forcing Scientists to take a hard line that made the religion unappealing to outsiders and critics. Corey is virtually the only Christian Scientist ever to acknowledge honestly and directly the dangers that the religion posed to children, publishing a description of children who had suffered and died as a result of overzealous reliance on Christian Science. ""The irony of Arthur Corey's life and career as an outcast Christian Scientist lies in the fact that he represented, on many levels, the best qualities of his religion. He embodied the kindness, compassion, and temperateness of the moderate Scientist, the Scientist who chooses not to force his beliefs on others or push his patients and students beyond what they can stand. He acknowledged, as no Christian Scientist publicly has before or since, the mental anguish that is caused by not knowing the potential severity of any given illness: "I have seen more than one patient relieved of unbearable terror by a medical diagnosis which revealed that a particular disorder was benign or malignant," he wrote. "It is nonsense to think the doctors produce the disease." His teachings stripped the religion of its darkest impulses toward paranoia and extremism. He stood for what Christian Science might have been at its best: a devotion to exploring the meaning of life, health and true morality. Arthur Corey died in 1977, dismissed by the Church but, nonetheless, a popular and enthusiastic Christian Science teacher to the end." (end quote)I have known many Christian Scientists who visit their doctors regularly and get the proper medical intervention as needed. The religion, for them, is greatly helpful in giving them inner strength to cope with life. My fear, though, is that innocent people, especially children, will continue to be the institution's casualties.Until now, I had never understood why my grandmother functioned the way she did; she alienated practically everyone in her midst by being a fanatic of CS, and caused much ill-will and bad tidings. She only became human and real when she wasn't under CS's dictum. I only wonder what she would have been like had she not been so *fanatical,* so unyielding.This peerless, supremely presented study of Fraser's can hardly be bettered - and may stand as the definitive history and examination of Christian Science.

This book is so good! I've read most of the books for ex-Scientists and have found this to be the best. It is objective and very well written. I especially enjoyed the history of the church and the biographical section about Mrs. Eddy. While a Scientist I was never able to get through her authorized biographies because I just couldn't believe them. This one feels real to me. The church has revised its way of dealing with children, (My state COP rep is telling the Scientists in my area that she only will treat a child for 24 hours, after that she tells the parents to take them to a doctor), but there is still lots of pressure on adults to stay the course even if CS isn't helping them. This is a very interesting read and I highly recommend it.

If you're wanting a secular, well-written and well-researched read of Mary Baker Eddy and Christian Science this is an excellent read.

I feel that this book succeeds almost perfectly in accomplishing its goal. It has a point of view which is clearly stated and is most brilliant in making accessible to the non-CS reader some of the historical and contemporary issues in the faith. I thought Fraser was very even handed in her sympathies to those reformers who have tried to heal the church. I did not come away with a negative opinion of CS but I do now have a better understanding of the faith as a whole. Fraser's book is a wake up call;I think the church could show a great deal of maturity by taking this critique and using it to constructively go forward. The CS church near where I live is sparsely attended and the membership is very old. It will not be long until it is silent. A great, thought provoking book!

Great read for ex-Christian Scientists. Very well-researched and informative.

After reading this book, I had to contact Caroline Fraser and tell her how spot on her book was!!! I was also raised as a Christian Scientist, from a mixed marriage ( a term I had never heard before) with my mom a Strict True Believer and my dad not). Although it seemed that Caroline's experience was more extreme than mine, both me and my brother "saw through these beliefs" by Jr High. We realized that "praying away" broken or sprained ankles, fingers, torn ligaments, was NOT going to work. (we both played at high level of sports). Also, mumps, measles and flu did NOT get better by praying or pretending they did not exist. When I went to a doctor (on my own) with a 103 temperature because of tonsillitis in High School and one shot of an antibiotic cured it over night, both me and my brother quite the religion right there!!!. My mom eventually contracted very bad arthritis, and after years of praying, even she turned to help from modern medicine. My brother died in 1986 from Hereditary Hemocromotosis, which I found out I had. If I had stayed with CS, I would NOT be writing this at a healthy age of 63.Having been brought up as a Christian Scientist, I did find her information on the inner workings of the church and the power struggle very interesting. It is well worth reading. Christian Science is NOT a "cult" and I do find some very good things in it's teachings, but I and thankful I did not raise my children in that religion.ps. I still have my mom's "Science and Health" and do read it once in a while.John M. Wedeward

Good recipes but have to use a conversion table. None of the measuments are for the US. So difficult to work with.

Metric system and ingredients I’m unfamiliar with

There are so many various recipes to follow depending on your personal tastes for this delicious Vietnamese soup. I have tried three separate recipes and found them to be fabulous. You can easily find a Pho recipe that meets and exceeds your taste expectations

First Pho book I bought. the recipes are very simple and lets you add your ideals or take of them. Making Pho is a long process, and I did find the necessary things in my local grocery store. I purchased a second Pho cookbook thats even better than this one.

Finally I can make my own Photos. I have tried many restaurants but te cost is sometimes not in my budget . Now I can make my own with these easy recipies.

Good and very detailed pho cook without picture. Very easy to follow. I wish that it has come with pictures too.

Well the author has addressed a couple of my complaints about Kindle cookbooks. He educates the reader on how to make goodstocks which other writers don't do but tell you to buy canned broth which is expensive and offers little additional flavor.The second issue that he has addressed is that there is nutritional info for every recipe which is needed in today's day and ageof calorie conscious people.Now the main complaint he did not address and that is pics of the recipes. Like so many other Kindle cookbook writers there are no picsof dishes so we don't know what they are supposed to look like.The reviewer is an marriage, relationship and sexual coach and the author of the Kindle book entitled:Sex Education for Adults Secrets To Amazing Sex and Happily Ever After Too

Introduction The success of a hockey team, whether it is measured in individual skill improvement, winning, or fun, is directly dependent on practice. The better the practice, the better the team. What goes into a practice, how a practice is conducted and what is accomplished during a practice is critical. In this sense, the drills that a practice is comprised of are essential to the development of the team. This book presents 200 drills in eight different chapters: skating, stickhandling, passing, shooting, conditioning, goaltending, checking and situations. The book presents a comprehensive selection of drills for the different stages of development. The book is meant to serve all coaches, either as a readily available on-ice drill reminder, or as reference for new and different drills. Each drill features: a full-color diagram, a purpose, a brief description, the number of participating players and the tempo of the drill's execution. All of this information is clearly displayed for quick reference. Many of the drills have variations listed as well. No drill is too simple to be used. Drills are where the fundamental skills of the game are taught. All teams should constantly practice fundamentals and as a team develops its skills, the drills provided can be made more complex. My nephew recently got into hockey and wanted to learn how to play. I knew the game and rules but didn't know how to help him develop as a player. I got this book and so far I've teaching him conditioning and some team building exercises that has developed his overall game. This book is a coach's guidebook because he is learning both offensive and defensive strategies and executing them well. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to either coach or just learn the game in general.

The book I bought was suppose to be new. It was actually a withdrawn library book. Strange.

Hockey Drill Book. The title says it all. The book is laid out very well. It opens with warm up and skating drills. Then the book moves to stick handling to passing to shooting. It continues with conditioning, goaltending, checking, situations and finishes with practice.The nice part about the book is that each drill has an illustration with a description of how to perform it. Each drill also contains an explanation of the purpose, tempo and who can participate. Another nice feature is the variations section, which offers an idea of a different approach to the drill.This is a great book for beginning coaches as well as more seasoned coaches looking for something different. This book will help your confidence as a coach and help your team move to the next level.

So disappointed in this book. I love Creative Haven coloring books and was really looking forward to getting this book because I love the Fall season. I even pre-ordered it and figured it would be worth the wait. The lines were too thick for my comfort. The pictures of it looked nice but when I got it, I was really disappointed. I won't return it because it's not worth the return postage, but I will make note not to order from this artist again. I may give it to the Library in our Community Senior Center.

 This is the fourth book in a series of seasonal coloring books by Teresa Goodridge. For me, each of the books has been even better than the one before. As autumn is my favorite time of year (with changing colors of leaves, the last of vegetables being harvested and the holidays approaching.) While the colored samples are still pictures of the original watercolor artwork rather than colored samples of the actual designs in the book, I don't have the issues with tiny details that I had in the first book in the series. I'm able to use all types of coloring medium with this book, which makes it a real pleasure to color in.The designs are exactly what I would hope for in book about autumn. I really like that as I have had problems finding a good autumn coloring book up till now. The designs have lots of trees for coloring the change of leaf colors, pumpkins and other harvest items, Thanksgiving, Halloween and even a football scene. The designs are quite detailed and some few do contain intricate and small areas to color. There are less of the intricate portions in this book than in the prior ones.I noticed that the feel of the paper is slightly smoother than some of the Creative Haven books I have received recently. I've noticed that the paper seems to change quite frequently on these books. Because of that, if you buy one of these books, it may be slightly smooth or slightly rough depending on when and where it was printed. Colored pencils still work well with the slightly smoother paper (see below.)This is what I experienced while coloring in this book and testing the paper with my coloring medium.31 Autumn inspired Designs by Teresa GoodridgeThe designs are printed one side of the pagePaper is the usual Creative Haven quality: white, medium weight, slightly smooth and has perforated pages.Glue Binding but with perforated pages so removing a page is fairly simple.The designs stop well before the perforations. Most, but not all, of the designs have a framing line at the outer edges. Some simply stop with no line and I wish that they had put the framing line around those as well.Alcohol-based markers bleed through this paperWater-based markers bleed through in spots and show colorful shadows on the back of the pageGel pens and India ink pens leave shadows of color on the back of the page. India ink pens can bleed through when I apply more than one layer of ink.Coloring pencils work well with this paper. I was able to get good pigment (color) lay down, layer the same color and multiple colors and to blend easily using a pencil style blender. I tested both oil and wax-based pencils with similar results. Hard lead pencils, like Verithins, leave dents on the back of the page.I suggest either removing pages from the book to color or using a blotter page under your working page. I like card stock as it keeps ink from seeping through and damaging the pages below.

If you love scenery pictures to color, this book is for you. There are approximately 31 pages. Each picture is single sided. The paper is pretty thick but if you use markers you will still need to put a folder or blotch sheet between pages. I had this book preordered and couldn't wait to get it. Received the book today and had to color a page. I use markers. I feel the artist did a good job with the picture designs in this book.

I couldn't wait for this book to come out . I ordered it the day it did . The pictures are amazing art work and every book she makes is just as great as the last . I have every book she makes and each other has very awesome art work . I love scenery and season coloring . Autumn is my favorite time of the year so I was super stoked when I found out about this one. Over 30 pages to color . Highly recommend it to anyone and once again the author did an amazing job on this book!

I wanted something to get me in the Autumn mood and this book is perfect. Beautiful pictures to color! I love Creative Haven books and this one is one of my favorites.

I received this book about two weeks ago and absolutely love it. The artwork is by Teresa Goodrige and the images are delightful. There are a lot of typical Autumn type scenes with the beautiful falling leaves and countryside and a number of Halloween and Thanksgiving pictures featuring pumpkins and the bounty of nature.The pictures are printed on only one side of a page and each page is perforated. The paper is rather thin though although it has a good tooth. I highly recommend this title in the range if you enjoy colouring scenery.

What a special coloring book! The pictures are very well put together and fun to color. Lots of farm scenes with produce. The theme runs to Thanksgiving and the fall. There is a scarecrow that I did in a plaid shirt with denim jeans, buildings, wreaths and more. There is also a football plate. I use Pan Pastels for the large areas such as gardens and fields. This product makes great looking gardens and pastures. This book is designed for experienced colorists. Perforated pages and the paper is real nice The wait on this book was worth it!!! I am very happyPS One year later this continues to be my favorite Autumn coloring book. I continue to do Pan Pastels. This is the BEST coloring book!!! I love to take the time just to look at and enjoy the pages I have colored. I have just about colored this book up. I am going to order at least one more book, and try different methods other than the ones I have already used.Good job Creative Haven and Teresa Goodridge. I love that you produce such a variet of books.

These books are fantastic. I love the outdoor autumn scenes in this book with pumpkins, scarecrows, apple orchards and so much more. All of the pages are perforated for ease and convenience of coloring and single sided. Paper is a nice quality but recommend backers for wet mediums. Fabulous!!

I have to say, I was rather surprised when I received this book and opened it. Not only was the artwork lovely, but the paper quality was equally as nice. It's what I would call a medium weight paper and easy to work on. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that might be on the fence about the purchase. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

The eBook and the version of the paperback showing the two eyes in a frame are not the Kaufmann translation. This translation is OK, but you should know that the product information is incorrect.Additionally, the two versions I refer to use ALL CAPS instead of italics. Nietzsche loves his italics, especially in BGE. It's like he's screaming every other sentence.

This ebook is illegible. Someone just did an OCR scan of an existing translation, without fixing any of the problems. About once a sentence, two or more words are crammed together likethis.

This is the third book I've read of Nietzsche's. The first was a collection from various writings, and the second was "The Anti-Christ." Beyond Good and Evil was Nietzsche's attempt to summarize his entire philosophy into one book. I don't know if I'd ever call anything Nietzsche wrote a summary, but this book does lay out his principles in black-and-white, and it did help me put some of the pieces together.Below are a few of my takeaways. It's not a summary, because I don't even know if that's possible. So I just wanted to share a few things I've picked up on.On the will to power:If modern (nineteenth century) man is no longer going to believe in God, or at least if they're going to tone down His influence a bit, the next logical step for them was the concept of free will. In a post-enlightenment world, people were trying to understand if there really is a God pulling our strings like puppets. If they weren't going to believe that, the next logical step was free will. Nietzsche rejects free will and instead believes in the will to power. Essentially the will to power is his phrase that means people should aim to take power over themselves and create a "superman" or "overman" out of themselves. Nietzsche sees this as an alternative to the concept of free will.On religion -Another thing that I noticed about Nietzsche after reading a fair bit of his work is that, as critical as he is of Christianity, he seems to have a bit of an affinity for Buddhism, or at least the principles of Buddhism. Buddhism's primary concept is "life is suffering," right? Nietzsche writes extensively about suffering as well, arguing in part that the cause of all great human advancement is suffering. In the Anti-Christ, he often points out that Buddhism is better than Christianity. To be fair, there was a pretty short list of things that weren't better than Christianity, according to Nietzsche.I love the short epigrams and how Nietzsche is capable of concentrating so much meaning into such few words-"Blessed be the forgetful: for they forget their stupidities, too.""Whoever reaches his ideal transcends 'eo ipso.'""'Where the tree of knowledge stands, there is always Paradise': thus speak the oldest and the youngest serpents."*eo ipso = thereby

Great translation by Judith Norman! I much prefer it to the standard Walter Kaufmann translation.

Terrible print job, Create Space. Margins are microscopic, spacing is awful, text is crammed in so tightly I need reading glasses. Buy any other copy.Good words, bad publisher.

The written material in this book is acceptable but the book itself, that being the page is not upon opening the book I discovered this. The first three pages had the top right-hand corner are bent to an angle as to where they are not attached to the binding and thus make an indent into the cover of the book which ruins the pristine and beautiful image on the cover with a bulge that is clearly visible. I request a refund or at the very least new copy of this book that is free of misprints.

Many can write more informed opinions on this book. I can merely say I have read it 7 times in the last two years and each time I gain a new insight into Nietzsche's thoughts about how humans can live joyful, productive lives in the face of constant reminders that the world and existence are unpredictable, cruel, often vicious and threatening, The ideas presented here are expanded in his later work.He has a terrific sense of humor. I prefer Walter Kaufmann's translations.

Nietzsche was brilliantly crazy or crazy brilliant, perhaps it was both. Not an obvious genius, but his wisdom is counter-intuitive and worthy of reflection. He was perhaps the most brilliant philosopher of his time, certainly not the most conventional--but arguably the most sagacious about many matters. It is a shame that he descended into madness. He is not to be read quickly, because in so doing you will miss the point. Worth reading and reflecting on, particularly if you study philosophy seriously.
