We purchased this book for our niece. We did note that some of the subject matter might be questioned for certain ages (e.g. orgasms, dancing getting you laid, and morning wood). I found no recommended age information, nor was I aware of this subject matter when I preordered (it's very likely I didn't research thoroughly, as I am a fan).I will note that these are all natural aspects of life, and nothing objectively negative for a younger child to be exposed to. The terminology used in that presentation might be questioned (some may prefer formal terminology over informal), and the potential social ramifications of having a child educated in such matters could, sadly, be an issue, however. My wife and I are fine with it, but our niece's parents and grandparents have different opinions than we do on some things. Just something to think about.

This book explores the type of questions that usually only a kid would ask, and digs deep into giving an in depth answer that that same kid would understand. It's good for the curious, regardless of whether they are science illiterate or hold one or many PhD's in STEM fields. Granted, many things are oversimplified, but given the circumstances and the general atmosphere in which this book is meant to be read, I believe the guys at Asap Science made a great product here.Unrelated to the book itself: I got myself the Kindle version and yet it wasn't compatible with my eReader device (Kindle Paperwhite), so beware if you are getting the soft copy.

I did a search for books for 8-13 year olds and this book popped up. My grandson loves science and always has questions about the unusual. I bought the book as a birthday gift for him. The book description talks about science and says it is a fun read. Thank goodness I leafed through it before giving it to him. This is an adult book and definitely not appropriate for anyone under the age of 21! The book description is not accurate and did not say anything about the adult content in this book. I'm sending it back.

LOVE THIS BOOK, it is essentially the AsapSCIENCE Youtube videos in book form. It's a fun, clever and easy to read to pick up and browse through and also to sit and read to feed your brain. I leave it on my coffee table and guests have fun looking through it. If you're a fan of the YouTube videos, this is definitely a must buy, and if you're a fan of knowledge, this is also a must buy. I do caution sharing it with children though as some are definitely fun for kids, there are some more adult topics you might want to clear with their parents first.

The book itself is super cute. I'm sure my little girl will love it. The condition however is horrible, how am I supposed to give this as a gift? It is supposed to be a brand new book, yet the cover is all screwed up as you can see in the pictures. I also feel really ripped off since I paid $8 for the book and the seller left the $5.99 Barnes and Noble Bargin Price on the front. I will NEVER buy from this seller again. Ridiculous.

MIddle school grandson loves books and is an information magnet. He loves this and walks around quoting the facts he learns until people freak out. It's so funny and I adore giving him good info to expand his thinking. Nice book. Nice printing and paper. There are serious facts and things that make him laugh out loud. Glad I found this book.

I bought the book for my 12 years old son. He loves to watch asapscience videos. Thought he will enjoy the book too. Nevertheless, the content of the book is good he has not been as interested to read it than to watch ithe videos. He has read a few themes of the book but continuos to prefer the videos. I bought it too because is a way to support the asapscience project. The more funds the get the more videos that they will have available. Love their work, think is a wonderful, educational way for kids to watch interesting and some what complex informations in a fun, friedly format.

My grandkids love this book. They also like reading it out loud be aus3 of the way is written. Grandparents: read through the table of contents to make sure you’re ok with all of the topics.

If you're looking for a resource that is founded/supported in scientific research (and not opinion or an engineer's perspective), this is NOT the book you want. I bought this book because I was looking for a resource explaining why each chemical was used, and I could see from the "Look Inside" option that literature was cited by the book. Unfortunately, most of the in-text citations are to US Patent applications, which are useless to me as a researcher. This book does not really describe anything more than what you can find on any "hydraulic fracturing" website. Also, I was disappointed that this really only gave one side of the story…the oil & gas industry/engineer's point of view, which is obviously biased.

I got this for my nieces who were visiting and they ran through all the paper and had a ton of fun with it. Really a wonderful book.

Anyone who's roots are in Sicily or who wants to learn about this unique crossroad between east and west should rush out to buy this book.John Julius Norwich is a terrific authority on Sicily and a delightful writer. I laughed out loud any number of times as he described the utter madness of Sicily's crazy history. Yes, he covers 3000 years of it, and yes, it's damned confusing. Lots of utter chaos and lots of glory and plague and viciousness. The Greeks were there at the beginning of this story but were unorganized and let themselves be overrun. The Arabs, French, Spanish, English, and Germans were all after this wonderful island, murdering and raping their way across it over centuries. Norwich talks about it being a sad place, too. Now it has some stability, but the Mafia is still there, and Norwich ends his history after WW II. He devotes only a few sentences to the present, but he waxes poetic about the architectural wonders, the beauty, and the historical riches to be found there. For sure, his love of Sicily comes shining through. If you can be patient and follow all the names and places Norwich casually throws at you, since he knows them so well, you will enjoy this book. It puts today's madness in perspective. Highly recommended.

I did enjoy reading this book: not really an history book, with the usual endless and pedantic sequence of names and dates that will be forgotten as soon as read. the author provides rather the essential treads leading from one historical development to the next. I am a Sicilian myself, and what make me decide to buy the book was a comment in the introduction on which I totally agree: because of their history Sicilians have very little if any sense of humor and the prevailing mood is one of a sort of resigned sadness and a feeling of hopelessness, mixed with the illusion that somebody else will come and take care of our own problems. This is demonstrated throughout the book, but in a very sensitive, humorous and sympathetic way. I do recommend reading this book if you want to have a basic understanding of Sicilian uniqueness and complex, fascinating history and culture. The pages on the Normand Kingdom period (ca 1100) are truly illuminating and show the fascination of the author with this splendid and largely unknown period of Sicilian history.

Imagine touring Sicily with the most knowledgeable guide available - experienced in history, politics, art, literature. This is what Norwich's most recent book provides. His always friendly, accessible prose communicates his fascination with this place and its history. I enjoyed it as much as I have his other books that I've read.The period he is most interested in was the period of the Normans ruling Sicily, which he covered in depth in his two volume work on the Normans in Sicily. Those books completely held my interest over 800 pages. Another period which got my attention was the Napoleonic era with plenty of colorful characters.Highly recommended.

Overall this is a very interesting book and has deepened my knowledge of Sicily, where my ancestors are from. I do think, however that the book would benefit greatly from more maps and illustrations within the chapters. A background of the ancient and classical world is a must before reading. I also am curious as to why the author devotes only a couple paragraphs to the Arab rule/time period. This time contributed so much to Sicilian culture--food, language, architecture. It just seems odd to give them so little attention.

I'm sure the author didn't miss a detail, but this was deadly dull and difficult to follow. And since the major cities/towns of the island are hard to place without a map at hand, the stories about their feuds (and all the smaller town feuds, and all the feuds with cities on the boot of Italy or on the African coast) were just a confusing mess. A map or 20 would have helped as Sicily was passed around like a hot potato from Spain to France to various and sundry rulers of parts of what would become Italy and Germany.As a scholarly work, I'm sure it's impeccable, but from a reader's standpoint, it's zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I actually listened to the audio version during my commute. The ancient history, especially the mant Greek and Carthaginian struggles early on we're not as gripping unless that is where your interest lies, but it was really quite gripping once the Romans and Normans showed up on the scene. This narrative, although moving quickly through history and only pausing on the most relevant or dramatic bits, did a good job of tying in Italian and European history to lend relevance and a point of reference for those with an interest in history but no specific knowledge of the region.

I was introduced to Ultimately Responsible as part of a leadership academy. It is the single most important book I have read on leadership. Sue Kibbey's hand-on approach makes following her model very simple.

This is a good entry-level book on ministry leadership. It gives good information to consider and sound practical advice to follow in developing one's leadership skills. The material is developed logically, chapter by chapter, beginning with understanding one's own innate leadership style and progressing through establishing a guiding focus in leadership, establishing a contagious ministry movement, developing ministry servants, leading and building a team, and leading successful change. This is a relatively short book, which means that it mainly summarizes the essentials in leadership. Each chapter could be expanded into a full book. Still, this is a good place to start if you are new to a leadership role or looking to hone your leadership skills.

If your servanthood is as a team leader, translating the cause, qualifying team members, growing team members, and quantifying results, then this is a book you will want to go back to often. This,in my opinion, is "bottom up type ministry," as opposed to top down. Good examples to explain the suggested processes and steps.

Exceptionally well written. It describes of the practical steps and techniques to ignite and energize a church or group through servant leadership.A stimulating and energizing read.

I read through 100% of the sample and wouldn't want to go further. I learnt a couple of things that I didn't already know so it was worth reading that part but the book was so poorly edited and repetitive that I can't imagine it improving. There are grammatical and typographic errors throughout the text,which makes reading difficult. In one place there seems to be a Linux command error (is -A instead of is -a). Worse, the topics jump around in a sort of random way. The author may be a very knowledgeable and competent teacher of Linux but this book is a draft that desperately needs editing. I should also more that I read all reviews and most show the same distinctive syntax, emphasize the same generic points without much substance, and have the same grammatical errors. Are they independent reviews?

If you want to learn linux then get this book. its will guide you about that. A very learning approach. Author give full stuff for making this book helpful. Learning concept.
