Well, I thought when I read the original Fifty Shades Trilogy, that nothing EL James came up with could top it. Then I read Grey, the first book from Christian’s POV and loved it. I’d always understood why Christian Grey was the way he is. Having had a less than ideal childhood myself, I could relate so much to how he felt and reacted.I loved Grey, but Darker surpassed it. OMG, being in his head. It was painful seeing him as an angry man, who still had that frightened little boy within him, who couldn’t get close to anyone, who was so scared of being touched, he wouldn’t sleep with anyone, for fear they might touch him in their sleep, and his need to tie up women so they couldn’t put their hands on him during sex.Watching him fall in love. Feeling so vulnerable and insecure because he’d never felt before, the way he feels for Ana. His fear of losing her. His self hatred and sadly not being able to see the good man he really was. I loved seeing him blossom under the gentle touch and love of Ana. I loved everything about this book. It was such an emotional read. I couldn’t get enough and hated it when I came to the end of this book. I can’t wait for the author to write Freed from his POV. Well, I hope she writes it. I can honestly say, that after having read the original trilogy 17 times, that the books from Christian’s POV are my favourites. I think for anyone who misjudged Christian and accused him of being a cold, arrogant man who was abusive towards women, they should really read the books from his POV. He is not cold or arrogant, or abusive. He is a man who had a horrific start to life, who learnt over the years to cope the only way he knew how. He unfortunately was introduced to sex by the wrong kind of person, but it taught him a way he could be in control, something so important to him. Something I understood because when you have no control as a child, you crave it as an adult.Ana certainly turns Christian on his head. Everything that is familiar to him and helps him cope is gone, and yet, he takes to his new lifestyle so well. This is an incredible love story. It’s the love story between a damaged young man and the woman who comes into his life and loves him, flaws and all. Who slowly but surely shows him there is another way and who teaches him to love, and to start to at least like himself. I LOVED everything about Darker.

50 Shades fans will be consumed in Christian Grey’s DARKER point of view. This book clearly gives the reader a much deeper understanding to Christian’s strong feelings for Ana of which he has difficulty admitting to himself. The effects of his first four years of life with a drug addict birth mother and her prostitution life that dragged him with her, always referring him by the name of Maggot, comes to the surface as his love for Ana grows more intense.Dr. Flynn has made a critical difference in helping Christian not only admit his feelings of love for Ana, but making him see he is “not afraid of commitment.”The depth of story in Charlie Tango’s crash, really brings to life the seriousness of Christian extreme need for a loving, intelligent, independent, compassionate but very strong, Ana.For fans of this saga, Darker is a must read.

I read and listened to Darker.. whispersync yay!!! it was a good book, i love that we got to see many of the scenes that we like on Christian's mind, his thoughts and also the conversations he had .. like the dialogs between Christian and Elena or Christian and Leila .. also how annoyed he was with Elena, we get to read his struggle while Ana is touching him, or when he thinks she is going to leave him again, his memories when he was just a child.. his memories of the bad men in his mothers life.. so many key scenes are written here in his POV and i love how we understand him more.I love how dirty and sexual he is when he is having sex with Ana or when he is around her.. he always has sex on his mind and is thinking how much he wants her.. we can also see how much he needs her.. he is a true gentleman, always protecting her and making sure she is always safe..at some point i got annoyed that his internal dialog, was way TOO much i mean i know is a POV but sometimes it was too much.. it was a long book 18 freaking hours lol yea...but it was good..can't wait for the last book !!!

To the reviewers who are complaining - YES it is the same story, from HIS POV. If you didn't know that going in then you did not read the description & must not be familiar with this trilogy. Maybe there could have been more but regardless, if your a Fifty Fan than this a little extra bonus, like a keepsake, from HIS POV. Well done EL James.

I had read the first trilogy of the 50 shades books told from Anna's POV and while they weren't the greatest things ever written they were fairly entertaining for quick reads. This book however, terrible. Christians POV is very scary and would give any woman cause to run far, far away from him no matter how much money he had. If you want to read a book from the view of a domineering, controlling, mentally abusing, stalker then this book is for you. If not, turn back now and don't say I didn't warn you. I didn't even finish it and that's something that rarely happens to me with books, but about half way through I could not take him and his thoughts any more.

I'm a huge Fifty's fan, read the other books Numerous times!! The love story of this trilogy is so incredible, how the unconditional love of one person can totally change such a damaged person. I fell in love with their love story. I am a little disappointed in this book though. I expected it to dig deeper into Christian's past, his childhood, time with Elena & had really hoped for more sessions with Dr Flynn. The Fifty Shades Christians POV showed us a little why he is the way he is but I expected this one to go into more depth. The advertising talked about seeing how depraved he was but it didn't show more than his first POV book. Even the convo with his mom finding out about Elena was not as impacting as I had expected nor was him admitting to Flynn that he was in love with Anna.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a review with Blogging for Books. I’ve had my most recent book, It Was Me All Along by Andie Mitchell, sitting on my bookshelf almost all year. I just haven’t had time, or motivation, to pick it up until recently. When I did, I simply could not put it down.In It Was Me All Along, Andie Mitchell tells the story of her relationship with food. From the description, it sounds like a weight loss story, but really, at its core, this book isn’t about food. This book, sometimes painful, sometimes funny, and always brutally, charmingly honest, is about Mitchell’s relationship with herself and the ways she learned to cope with an unstable childhood, an absent (though loving) mother, and an alcoholic father. The fact that her food addiction was her coping mechanism is almost beside the point.Perhaps I see it in this light because, in spite of a few obvious differences in our childhoods, they sound alarmingly similar. Mitchell’s primary source of love, support, and stability was the food she ate: both the junk food she would binge on while sitting at home and the gourmet food her mother would make during her few hours at home between the four jobs she worked to put said food on the table. She speaks of being alarmingly obese to the point that she couldn’t find age appropriate clothes to fit her and where doctors constantly pressured her to diet (without, of course, ever giving her the tools to do so successfully). The picture she paints of her childhood is a tough one, but she remains generous to parents whose habits could have destroyed her and charitable to the people who were cruel.Mitchell’s story is about fighting for herself—both for emotional and physical health—and at the same time, fighting to accept herself. Many of the points she makes about the time after her weight loss success, including further eating disorders, poor mental health, and anxiety, are things we don’t usually think about or consider. She is open as she explores what it means to learn about oneself and to truly identify the reasons that we do what we do. Her memoir is an interesting exploration of the relationship between food and the way we experience the world and it will inevitably offer a challenge to anyone who reads it.I highly recommend this book and give it a five star rating.It Was Me All Along was provided for free by Blogging for Books so that I could write this review. I completely related to this book, and it had me in tears almost the entire time. As I was reading through each chapter and turning each page, the author describes in detail her struggles with food, and how food has been a comfort to her growing up. It's not surprising to me at all, considering what she has had to overcome in her early childhood years. All I kept thinking, was "of course she turned to food, she had a rough upbringing". Despite what she was faced with at such a young age, she seems to farewell in her young adult years, and even seems to do okay for the most part as she graduates high school and moves on. However, she still continues to seek out comfort food seemed to feed her emotions of what she was going through at the time. She later comes to terms with her relationship with food, and learns to fuel her body with healthier food. People seem to have criticized this, and minimized what she has gone through. But unless you are in that person's shoes, you really have no idea what that person faces and what their struggles are (despite what you think you know based on outward appearances). I really resonated with her story. Life isn't easy, and I really felt inspired after reading this book, and I felt as though I understood completely what she was going through. I think this book is a great, inspirational book for anyone who is struggling with healthy eating, body weight images, etc. It's truly uplifting and encouraging, and I'd recommend this book!

I adored Andie's book. It was so honest, so vulnerable, so raw. Andie takes us through her childhood all the way to present day, as we learn about how she struggled (and continues to, in some sense) struggle with her weight, and what factors along the way shaped her relationship with food and self-esteem. I first decided to buy this book because I'd been a long time follower of Andie's blog, and I also watched her Ted-X talk. I was intrigued to learn more details about her personal life and I'm so glad I made this purchase. Andie's journey is one that many of us can relate to, and she has a beautiful way with words where she can describe the most simple and/or mundane things and draw out the most vivid emotions in her readers. Like when she talks about what she actually misses about being overweight. That was a very emotional part of the book. I mean, how many people can actually admit or think to see the good in what they had when they let themselves overeat? As someone who has struggled with her weight, I can totally relate to Andie and also sometimes miss the fun of being able to eat with "reckless abandon." (Although, spoiler alert: Andie also writes about what she does NOT miss about being overweight.)All in all, this book is an easy read, and you will love going through sweet Andie's journey with her!

Really useful guide to move throughout the world. Lots of great information, and good price. I buy every one of these books about moving abroad after retirement that comes out, and I'd say this is my favorite of the lot. The only downside is that the information is a few years old at least; I wish they would update the prices and currency exchange rates yearly in order to make it even more useful.

Well, their website is good enough it caused me to purchase the book. Unfortunately, the book is not super helpful. There are other websites superior to this book.The good: it covers a variety of the issues a would-be expat has to deal with. It also covers a variety of the nations a would-be expat might consider relocating to.The bad: the editing is atrocious. The information is sparse and contradictory. There is also a lot of missing information. While Spain has a new program, lowering the amount of purchased real estate necessary to gain a Spanish passport; the actual legal mechanism is centuries old. In countries based on Roman Law (Portugal also qualifies; so does Italy to a lesser extent), a "man of means and property" is given favorable disposition in applying for citizenship. Basically, buy some property, get a passport. I know about this, as I've been kicking around the idea of doing it. Missing in this volume. On the other hand, there are all manner of (subjective, as far as I can tell) assessments of the friendliness of nations towards marijuana smokers and gay marriage enthusiasts. From this, the demographic this book was designed for becomes painfully obvious: petulant recent college graduate ding dongs who want their "teaching abroad" experience to be seen as some kind of "I don't like George Bush" political statement (the book was published during the Bush administration). In other words: people who are fundamentally unserious about leaving America, as well as everything else in their lives.What actionable information is in this book is woefully out of date: the expatriation tax numbers are wrong, and the legal advice they give, questionable. Save your sheckels.

The strength of this book is that it favors breadth rather than depth.If you are thinking about leaving the US but don't really know where you'd like to go, or if you have a destination in mind but don't really know what you don't know about emigration, this book is for you. Getting Out covers the top 50 destinations for US expats, with information about the quality of health care, cost and standard of living, and social permissiveness. Also included are brief accounts of the experiences of expats living around the world. There is also good general information about the different pathways available to the potential expat.Reading it will definately leave you with more questions than answers, since any comprehensive emigration/immigration guide to all the countries in the world would fill a small library. Getting Out will give you the basics and point you in the right direction to find more in-depth information. You won't find anything here that will help you decide to settle in one country over another, but it will help you either narrow your list or give you reason to consider some place you otherwise would not have.

This book is a good consolidation of basic information and may help you think about countries you might not have considered. However, be warned that some of the data is out of date so do your homework after you have narrowed done the countries you might be interested in moving too.

I have only had a chance to scan through the book so far. I find the content to exceptionally thorough, well thought out and researched. The book covers important general topics and provides specific information on many of the leading countries often heard of as retirement/expat destinations. If your goal is to retire or move overseas, this book appears to be a necessary read. Quality of the book itself is excellent and strikes me as book that will stand up to a lot of use and wear.

I was really shocked with how comprehensive this book is. Tons of great information, some of the most valuable coming from those who have moved and their true experiences. There are also tons of great references, links to web sites, organizations. I learned a lot and this will be a great reference tool for a long time, I am so glad I purchased it! It gave me hope and insight that while the United States is a wonderful country, there are also many other interesting places to live. Excellent work to the author!
